I just have to tell you about Bretagne, a retired search and rescue dog. She is such a hero that she's been nominated for the 2014 Hero Dog Awards.
When Bretagne was only two, she went on her very first assignment as a Search and Rescue Dog. She worked long days with her handler at the World Trade Center disaster site, and still found time to offer support to the human workers who needed some puppy love. She's done lots of other really cool search and rescue stuff since them.
